My "cool" portfolio

This is my refrigerator, where I post my drawings so that I can look at them occasionally and see what needs a little "tweaking". These are some that I have done in the past 4 months since I started building up my drawing skills and learning circulism. Clockwise from left; son Tom, daughter-in-law Judy, daughter Roanne, great grandson Treyton, my dog Blitz, and a cat from an exercise in Lee Hammond's wonderful book, "Drawing Realistic Pet Portraits."

Thanks for looking.

Another update--SP

I have pushed up the darks on my self-portrait but still have a problem taking a picture that will show what I have done. Perhaps when I finish the mouth it will come together better but I had hoped to get some feedback from Troy before I work on it. If he still has trouble seeing the pic I will just be brave tomorrow and go ahead with those teeth.

Update on my SP

I have added a little more graphite to my SP (although I haven't tackled those teeth yet). I'd prefer to wait to do more until I get some comments & critiques. I do hope this picture is less blurry than the last one, apparently I was getting too close.

Thanks for looking.

New Drawing

This is a photo and a drawing of my grandson, Kyle, and his friend, Kami, that I did recently; it is my 4th try at circulism and I feel happiest about this one. The other three are better left in the bin. All C and C welcome.

Dianne as "Princess Albert de Broglie..."

This is an oil painting after JAD Ingres' titled "Princess Albert de Broglie..." but I painted my sister-in-law's head. I gave it to her as a surprise for her birthday and she seemed very happy and pleased with it. It was painted in the Venetian technique, with a bistre underpainting of the values before adding color layers.
All C and C very welcome altho' can't change this one but will help with the next one.

Thanks for looking.

A note about My Journey

Just a note about My Journey: Except for taking some classes and reading many art books, for numerous reasons I have been away from practicing art for many years, but now, in my "twilight years" I am trying again to build making art into my life. Earlier I spent time learning to paint with a palette knife in oils but now I am going in different directions, spending time learning drawing techniques as well as new (to me) classical oil painting techniques. There are many wonderful cyber art forums available now and many opportunities to learn, for which I am very grateful.
